COGITO Answers Places 3rd Out of Nearly 300 Entries, 4-3-2009

New York– April 3, 2009 – Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches, discovers, classifies and interprets unstructured text information, today announces its COGITO® Answers product has placed 3rd in the 2009 CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Award for Innovation in the Pro-sumer/Business Productivity category.

Winners were announced at the International CTIA Conference in Las Vegas.

Launched December 2008, COGITO Answers is an intuitive wireless-based system that allows customers to ask a question about their mobile devices or services from their mobile devices and receive an answer with one simple click.  The answers are pulled from product manuals, getting started guides and other unstructured materials.  Because COGITO Answers is a robust semantic technology, users can type their questions in everyday language and receive accurate, immediate and direct answers to their queries.

“Placing 3rd in the CTIA Emerging Technology Award is a real achievement,” said Brooke Aker, CEO, Expert System USA.  “We developed COGITO Answers with the goal to help enterprises save time, money and prevent end-user frustration.  Millions of times a month consumers get their questions answered correctly with COGITO Answers.  That saves carriers and device makers about $10 on an interaction that would have otherwise gone to the call center.  It’s a thrill to see semantic intelligence become so useful and widely adopted in the mobile market.”

Created in 2006, the CTIA Emerging Technology Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of Consumer, Enterprise and Network technology.  Over 300 applications were submitted in 18 categories and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives. Products were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall “wow” factor.

“With a broad spectrum of categories, ranging from consumer to enterprise to wireless health and energy applications, the E-Tech awards are an indicator of the phenomenal innovation taking place in the wireless industry,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA. “We received a great response to the online and text voting campaigns for Best in Show and extend our congratulations to all of today’s winners.”The CTIA announcement and a full list of winners can be seen here: https://www.ctia.org/media/press/body.cfm/prid/1815
